Dear Ms. Kathryn Rantala,
My name is Brock Kawana and I am currently a student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the field of Communications Media and Journalism. This semester I enrolled in a research writing class. My research has been conducted on Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell’s idea of the monomyth/ hero’s journey. I learned about it in a previous class last semester and it has consumed my life ever since.
My primary reason for conducting this research and then writing my story/poem of my own auto-ethnographical experience is because I was so interested in the monomythic stages of life dealing with different archetypes in which we use throughout our daily lives without even knowing consciously. I think the poem I present to you can just convey a touching story in which others may have experienced as well or give them the inspiration to tell their own stories. My story is just a depiction of what I have learned from the monomyth and will continue to use it as a format to write other pieces of work. Joseph Campbell once stated, “Everyday you are born and then you die.” That is what I want the readers to get from my story that I wrote. That we are ever changing from our experiences, the people we meet and the paths we choose throughout our lives. I believe my research and story I tell will help out Anemone Sidecar in its own unique way. Please review my enclosed poem below that will tell a story of its own. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Brock Kawana
