ANNO-BIB.
When writing our annotated bibliography we have to go out and find articles, journal entries or websites and then properly cite them in the format we are choosing. I am choosing to write my paper in MLA format, which would entitle me to cite all of my work in the MLA style of formatting. These are useful because it organizes our data before we begin to start writing. We have a thick grasp on what we are going to get into and also it branches out our ideas of ways to layer our central idea. We can layer different subjects to arrive to the thesis or main point of our research papers.

1.)
Krakauer, Jon. Into the Wild. New York: Anchor Doubleday, 1997.
A spiritual journey taken by one Christopher McCandless. In May of 1990 he set out on a two year expedition that would eventually lead to his death but all along he had accomplished his goal of freedom from the people who held him down. Some say he was an ignorant 90′s hippee while others admire his free-spirit and ability to break away from this social life we are a part of now a days. It is one the single most self-liberating stories I have ever read. I think it is unique because unlike Siddhartha it has no correlation with religion but more of peace of mind.
2.)
Sarkar, Eisha “Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse.” Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse. 19 Jan. 2010 EzineArticles.com. 17 Feb. 2010 <http://ezinearticles.com/?Siddhartha-by-Hermann-Hesse&id=3601257>.
A life journey written by Hermann Hesse but as Eisha Sarkar described in his article it is a book that takes more than one sitting just to read. It shows the path of a young Brahmin having the faith and courage to leave his family and find his own inner-self. In the story Siddhartha goes through extreme stages throughout life from the ups and downs until finally he finds his peace of mind at the end with hearing the inner “om” he so desperately was looking for all along. This helps my research immensely because it declares a passion for life and shows the evils which can haunt us as well.
3.)
Gaines, Patrice. “Finding Inner Peace Through a Window of Hope.” National Catholic Reporter. Apr. 2002: Vol. 38, Issue 25, p. 32. EBSCOhost.
This article was inspiring and heart-felt. It tells a story of how Patrice Gaines went from the belly of the whale in her life to finding her own definition of God and disregarding her grief and emotions she felt and self-cleansed her own life. It shows the trials and tribulations that she went through to achieve this point from quitting heroine, grieving for her friends, becoming a good daughter and mother and living life on her own watch. It was beautiful. This can help my research by other peoples stories and what they did to get through it, for instance Patrice found religion.
4.)
Schmich, Mary. Wear Sunscreen. Chicago Tirbune: 1997. 1 June.
A poem by Mary Schmich which was adressed to the class of 1997. It talks about her own discoveries found throughout her life exploration. It is a self-realization on what she could have done, did do and her advice to others. The way that it flows seems to melt your brain and turn her into a cult-leader of sorts which is why it is so inspiring and beautiful. This poem shows the things we need to pay more attention to in life and what is out there for us.
5.)
Simona, Luigia. “Adolescents In Different Contexts: The Exploration of Identity Through Possible Selves.” Cognitie, Creier, Comportament/Cognition, Brain, Behavior. Sept. 2009: Vol. 13, Issue 3, p.221-252. EBSCOhost.
This article by Simona pertained mostly to the likes of how are childhood can be affect our decisions later in life. This reminded me much of “Into The Wild” because of how his parents didn’t understand him it made me think that parental guidance has a lot of how we turn out into the person that we become later in life. This can help my research through it showing the beginning stages of why we need to find out our own personal self and why not to just follow the rules of our parents even though that sounds radical and outlandish, not everything our parents say is just.
6.)
Raymond Rock, E. “How to Find Yourself (How to Look Within).” How to Find Yourself (How to Look Within). 21 Mar. 2008 EzineArticles.com. 17 Feb. 2010
I thought this article was more like a “How-to” step-by-step piece of finding yourself. At first I didn’t really like it, but then as I read more in-depth into it I found what intrigued me the most. It gave the reader five steps to being the journey of finding ourself. It broke it down nicely into these: dedication, persevearance, mindfulness, concentration and shrewdness. I believe this will help my research paper by backing up my main concept of finding ourselves is being free and being free is happiness among earth. Peace.
7.)
Henry, Julie. Info Guru. Weblong. 15 Dec. 2009. Catalogs.com
I feel as though Buddhisim is an important aspect to research when finding yourself comes into mind. They believe in everything I like to think about. They base their principles on peace, happiness, love and wisdom. However as peaceful as that all sounds they are the 4th most popular religion in the world behind Christianity, Islam and Hiduisim. They state that happiness is able to be achieved by anybody regardless of age, sex or race. It is beautiful thoughts like this that I want to learn more about for my reasearch paper.
8.)
Ginsberg, Scott “Life Isn’t About Finding Yourself, It’s About Creating Yourself.” Life Isn’t About Finding Yourself, It’s About Creating Yourself. 3 Jan. 2006 EzineArticles.com. 17 Feb. 2010
Scott Ginsberg is a professional speaker and I feel as though this is a credible source for that very same reason. The article shows more about how we build our own selves. We find ourselves through what we have accomplished or do throughout our lives. We are only as strong and unique as we make us out to be. It shows the power of choice among our human minds which can ultimately define ourself.
9.)
Gier, Nicholas F., Petta, Johnson. “Hebrew and Buddhist Selves: A Construction Postmodern Study” Asian Philosophy. Aug. 1993: Vol. 65, Issue 2, p. 360-374. Academic Search Complete. EBSCOhost.
This article pertains to how Hebrew and Buddhist’s each define self. Each religion has a “bundle” theory of self that correlates to one another. The article attempts to show how each can propose a different relation to the finding of our own self. They are both two major religions that are defining the same thing in different ways. This is essential to my research because it is useful to get different opinions from other religions. I believe it is a credible source because they are both doctorates who wrote this and have cited their information from other documents as well. \
10.)
Manner, Mikko; Gowdy, John. “The Evolution of Social and Moral Behavior: Evolutionary Insights for Public Policy.” Ecological Economics Feb. 2010: Vol. 69 Issue 4, p. 753-761. Academic Search Complete. EBSCOhost.
This article shows the evolution in which the social standards around us have changed throughout the time periods which thus regard us to find out who we truly are. Are we just following the standards set around us or is this who we truly are? I think it is a genius article because it compensates with everything that are set around us including how we interact and behave with it.
