Hello my fellow people of the world. My name is Brock Andrew Kawana. I am now a 20-year-old Junior here at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I have taken 3 of Dr. Marlen Harrison’s classes throughout my career and each time this is how it goes: You will be afraid of him in the beginning but don’t drop the class (i promise), then about the first couple weeks to half way you will hate him and curse that this isn’t fair because none of your friends are doing as much work, then to the conclusion you will end up loving everything about the class and everything makes sense in the apotheosis to the Marlen Harrison world of thought. When somebody tells you, you can’t..fuck em’. If nobody believes in you but yourself then that’s still somebody…that is all you need. The drive to succeed, to learn, the pursuit of happiness.
Now I suppose I will tell you numerous things about myself for you to have a sense of who I am:
-I like to write, photography, and read..read..read..books (they do still exist!)
I have this problem where I shake a lot when I present my work in front of a classroom or group of people. But, to my own credit I have began to work on this by going to poetry slams and presenting my work and becoming more confident in my own work. It is a process but one day I strive to never shake again and now I am proud of everything I truly put work into.
I also play volleyball here at IUP and have been known to cut a rug on the dance floor. I like to talk to people and learn their stories because we can all learn from one another in this world we share together. If you would also like to freestyle rap battle me, we can do that too via skype. (I got you Marlen.)
